Join the Cape Youth Orchestra Program
Welcoming new members for the spring semester!
With three training ensembles and a full symphonic orchestra, the Cape Youth Orchestra program offers superb musical training to students in grades K through 12. Centered on fostering joy in instrumental and orchestral playing, the ensembles provide an enriching musical experience in a professional and supportive environment.
New this season: Mark Miller takes the baton as music director and conductor of the Cape Youth Orchestra. Mark has worked with the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras for over 30 years and he is the principal clarinetist with the Cape Symphony.

Prerequisites for Participation:
Musicians must be in good standing with their school music programs; private music lessons are strongly encouraged.
Financial aid scholarships are available for qualified students
Cape Conservatory private music students receive tuition-free participation in the CYO program!
Cape Youth Orchestra

The Cape Youth Orchestra is a full symphonic orchestra composed of musicians of intermediate to advanced technical and musical ability. Members receive group and individual coaching which enables them to build solid fundamental technical and musical skills.
CYO Repertory Strings

Repertory Strings is designed to inspire and enrich string players in grades 6 through 9. The ensemble provides a strong foundation for orchestral playing and develops musicianship and technical skills in a fun and supportive environment. Students will be challenged with carefully-selected string ensemble arrangements and have opportunities to play side-by-side with the Cape Youth Orchestra. Younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Debut Strings is a small ensemble tailored to string players in grades 3 through 5. Students will work on musical technique, ensemble playing skills, rhythm development, and practice skills. Younger students may be accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Chamber Winds is designed to inspire and enrich woodwind and brass players. Students will improve their ensemble-playing skills, refine their audition preparations, and develop effective instrument pedagogy. All wind instruments are welcome in this ensemble, including saxophone!
