jazz in the schools
Since 2014, the Cape Conservatory's Jazz in the Schools program has presented free Jazz education performances to students across the region, from Falmouth to Provincetown. For many children, this is their first chance to hear live jazz music and participate in a program dedicated to jazz history and its cultural influence. The program is funded by grants from the Mid-Cape Cultural Council, Brotherton Trust, and the non-profit Provincetown Jazz Festival. Bart Weisman, Program Director
"The assembly was absolutely amazing! Thank you so much, Bart... This was a great opportunity and I know that the kids at Teaticket had a wonderful time."
- Emma O'Neil, Teaticket Elementary School

Symphony in the Schools
Our newest program presents the select professional musicians of the Cape Symphony into our regional schools so that students can hear their instruments up close and learn about the incredible art of chamber music. Like our Jazz in the Schools program, Symphony in the Schools exposes young ears to an entire genre of music that they likely have never had the opportunity to hear. Chamber music groups include ensembles like String Quartets, Brass Quintets, Woodwind Quintets, various Percussion Ensembles, and Mixed Instrument Ensembles. All of these groups have one thing in common though: no conductor! They must rehearse and perform challenging music as a team and with that comes the development of vital collaborative skills that can be applied to everything from larger musical ensembles to non-musical careers in any profession.
Jung-Ho Pak in the Schools: In addition to symphony musicians visiting schools, we are also very fortunate to have an Artistic Director & Conductor who enjoys working with Cape Cod high school band, orchestra, and choral programs. Jung-Ho Pak is a gifted leader and educator and enjoys visiting these programs to work with both the ensemble and its conductor. This gives students an important opportunity to observe their own teacher as an attentive student and learn a fundamental truth: that, as musicians, we never stop learning!
