Mary George is a singer, songwriter, and pianist, originally from Long Island, New York. Growing up in a musical family, Mary was privileged to be exposed to many different genres of music and to start performing and studying at a very young age. Throughout the course of her young life, Mary benefited from the expertise and commitment of her public school music teachers who prepared her to sing and play instruments at the All-County, All-State, and All-Eastern levels. Mary received a Bachelor's Degree in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of (the late, great!) Dr. Jerrold Pope. She also studied composition and piano in depth and earned a Master's Degree in Arts Administration. Mary has a diverse musical background, including studies and experience performing Art Song, Opera, Jazz Music, Pop/Rock Music, Musical Theater, and music of the African Diaspora. Mary has performed at venues all over the United States and frequently works as a church musician here on Cape Cod. She independently released her first EP, Bird Songs, in May of 2015 (under her maiden name, Mary Henriquez). Mary enjoys working with students of all ages and experience levels. She wants her students to know that they are worthy of making music, regardless of age or ability and that our musical world would not be the same without each one of their contributions!
