Donna Murphy - Piano

Traditional music teaching including all styles of music, with emphasis on Theory. Has been a music educator for 42 years, graduating with a BA in Music Education from Wagner College in New York, majoring in organ studies, served as president of Alpha Tau Mu Music Fraternity and was harpsichordist with the Renaissance music group, Collegium Musicum.

Additional education included the Orff Music Teaching Method. While in Connecticut taught public school music, held positions in various denominations of churches as Organist and Music Director of both adult and children’s vocal and handbell choirs, and was accompanist for a school system choral program for grades 3-12.  Taught piano and organ in her own private studio, with additional concentration in theory, for 32 years.  For many years has been a member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), CT State and Hartford Chapter, MA State and served as president of the newly formed Cape & Islands Chapter. She has also been a member of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) and The American Handbell Ringers for many years.  Donna presently serves as Organist and Music Director for both vocal and handbell choirs at West Parish of Barnstable. In addition she is in The Artist in Residence Program at CT Children’s Medical Center in Hartford, CT doing music with cancer and post trauma patients
